SSC CHSL 2026: are applications open?

Yes. The Staff Selection Commission published the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026 notice on 7 September 2026. Online applications are open, with approximately 2,536 tentative Group C vacancies. The application deadline is 7 October 2026 at 11:00 PM; online fee payment closes on 8 October at 11:00 PM.

Last updated: 8 September 2026

What posts are included?

The SSC CHSL recruitment covers Group C posts including Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and DEO Grade A. The roughly 2,536 vacancies are tentative; SSC says final and post-wise/category-wise vacancy details may be updated later.

Who can apply?

Candidates generally need to have passed Class 12 or an equivalent qualification from a recognised board. Current reporting on the official notice states an age range of 18 to 27 years as of 1 August 2026, with statutory age relaxations for eligible categories. Candidates should verify their exact post-specific eligibility in the official SSC notice before applying.

What are the important dates?

Application start: 7 September 2026
Last date to apply: 7 October 2026, 11:00 PM
Last date for online fee payment: 8 October 2026, 11:00 PM
Correction window: 14–16 October 2026, up to 11:00 PM

How do I apply?

Use the official ssc.gov.in website. SSC requires One-Time Registration before examination applications. Complete the CHSL 2026 application there, follow the official photograph/signature instructions and retain the final submitted application. Avoid third-party sites that ask for SSC login credentials.

What is the application fee?

Current reporting on the SSC notice gives a fee of ₹100 for candidates who are not exempt. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen candidates are reported as exempt. Check the official notice for the rule that applies to your category before payment.

Are the Tier-I and Tier-II exam dates confirmed?

Not yet in the new notice reporting. SSC's earlier 2026–27 tentative calendar placed CHSL Tier-I in the July–September 2026 period, but the newly released recruitment coverage says the precise Tier-I and Tier-II dates will be notified separately. Candidates should therefore follow the latest SSC notice board rather than relying on older tentative calendar dates.
