Tesco: which product is affected?
The Food Standards Agency says Tesco is recalling Tesco Finest Caesar & Smoked Bacon Coleslaw, 270g, use-by 4 September 2026. Some packs may contain Tesco Finest Four Cheese Potato Salad. That product contains mustard, which is not declared on the coleslaw label.
If you have a mustard allergy, do not eat the affected product. The FSA advises returning it to any Tesco store for a full refund.
Waitrose: which product is affected?
Waitrose & Partners is recalling Waitrose Rhubarb Crumble, 500g, use-by 19 August 2026 because it contains oats (gluten) that are not declared on the label. The FSA notes that the product has home-freezing instructions to consume within one month of freezing, so affected packs may still be stored in customers' freezers.
If you have an allergy or intolerance to oats or gluten, or coeliac disease, do not eat it. Return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
Are all Tesco and Waitrose foods affected?
No. The FSA alerts identify the specific products, pack sizes and date codes above. The warnings should not be interpreted as applying to all Tesco or Waitrose food.
Why are these recalls important?
Both are allergy-related recalls caused by missing or incorrect labelling. Undeclared mustard can cause a serious allergic reaction in people with mustard allergy. Undeclared gluten is a risk for people with coeliac disease or an allergy or intolerance to oats or gluten.
What should shoppers do?
Check the exact product name, pack size and date code. If your product matches an alert and the allergen is relevant to you, do not eat it. Follow the retailer and FSA return instructions. For the Waitrose crumble, also check home freezers because the recall specifically notes freezing instructions.
